A bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive examination of your pet’s throat, larynx, trachea and lower airways. A thin, lighted flexible instrument with a camera on the end called a bronchoscope is used to find polyps, narrowings, collapse of the airways, inflammation (bronchitis or asthma), or for the detection of Valley Fever.
Bronchoscopy is also helpful for advanced procedures including placement of a tracheal stent to repair a collapsing trachea. No external incisions are required. Anesthesia is necessary to perform this examination, but is often very short.
