Foreign object removal by endoscopy is a minimally invasive alternative to surgery when foreign objects become lodged in your pet’s esophagus or stomach.
A lighted, flexible instrument with a camera on the end called an endoscope is used along with specialized instruments to locate and retrieve the object in most cases.
No external incisions are required as the object is pulled back up the esophagus and out the mouth. Anesthesia is necessary to perform this procedure, but is often very short.
