Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery allowing access to your pet’s abdominal organs. Two to three small incisions are made to allow a small lighted, instrument with a camera on the end called a laparoscope into the abdomen.
Laparoscopy can be used to visualize the internal organs to diagnose disease, obtain biopsies, and repair or remove diseased organs. There are a number of advantages for your pet with laparoscopic surgery versus an open surgical procedure. These include reduced pain, smaller incisions with less scaring, minimal bleeding and shorter recovery time.
